Leading The World In Variable Printing
& Coding
Domino was founded in the UK in 1978 and
is now a world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of industrial
inkjet and laser printing and coding solutions. A global operation with
turnover in excess of £130M, Domino employs over 1400 people around the
world. Our products are sold in over 120 countries through a network of
16 subsidiary offices and over 75 distributors.
To best serve our global customers, we manufacture
and assemble our products at a number of locations around the world including
3 sites in the UK, 3 sites in the USA, and in Asia. To help ensure the
best possible service, we have implemented the international quality assurance
accreditation ISO 9000, which now applies to several of our subsidiary
offices including the UK, USA, Spain, France, The Netherlands and China.
Our product range has expanded to meet the
ever-increasing applications and markets for variable coding and, in addition
to a recently launched new range of ink jet printers, includes a range
of laser printers, sophisticated printer controller units and over 50
specialist inks used for specific customer applications.
Over the years we have gained a number of
awards, these include the Queen’s Award for Technology, the Queen’s Award
for Export Achievement (twice).
Continued research and development of new
products, coding methods and product enhancements is an essential part
of our philosophy with over 6% of our annual turnover being re-invested.
The world of coding and marking grows ever
larger. Today an essential part of manufacturing is the coding used for
product identification, the date coding which gives food and drink consumers
confidence in their freshness or batch markings which allow them to be
traced. Newspapers use sequential numbering to identify unique copies
of lottery-style games, while large-volume mailers carry their destination
addresses marked directly without the need for labels.
Our Quality Policy
Domino regards Quality as a journey towards
excellence. We are proud of the steps we have taken towards this goal
and of our continuing commitment to improvement in everything we do.
Domino's ISO accreditation in the UK was
the first for any company in our industry, and we followed that by being
the first also in the USA, and more recently, in China. All our subsidiaries
now have ISO accreditation or are actively seeking it. We have also established
our own formal standard for Field Service. All our distributors as well
as subsidiaries are audited regularly to this Standard and are required
not only to meet high performance levels but to show a continuing process
of improvement. Our aim is to ensure that all Domino's customers throughout
the world experience the same high quality of support and service.
Formal standards are important but they are
only a framework on which a quality policy stands. All our staff receive
regular quality training. Improvement objectives and performance awards
are part of our culture. Domino's Company-Wide Quality Improvement programme
is high regarded and is open to our suppliers and to managers from the
local business community. Our Cambridge factory is a reference site for
the Governments DTI "Inside UK Enterprise" initiative.
