| Domino Announces Complete Range Of Outer Case Coding Solutions October 1, 2001 October 2001 Domino is strengthening its leading position in the outer case coding market by announcing a new range designed for total reliability that also offers improved print quality, greater flexibility and significant cost savings to a broad spectrum of manufacturers. The Domino C-Series outer case coding systems are suitable for everything from basic large character applications to sophisticated networking solutions. At the top of the range is a high definition printer which can produce real-time, variable data, multiple line text, on-line graphics and all major bar codes onto porous outer case cartons. This technology also offers networking solutions for complete connectivity and greater control over printing, allowing centralised control of factory-wide coding integrated into the production process. Pigmented oil-based inks are used with the high definition model to ensure an exceptionally sharp contrast even on brown board. Manufacturers seeking high quality but low cost printing are offered the C-Series valve jet printer, which uses water-based inks and is capable of line speeds of up to 35 metres a minute, producing text from 10mm to 68mm high. Whatever printer is chosen, the key benefits to manufacturers are savings on the cost of labels by printing directly onto cartons and by eliminating the need for in-house stocks of pre-printed cases. Cartons are easier to recycle after use. Domino Outer Case Coding Product Manager, Mike Hurst, said: “The C-Series also enhances efficiency because it reduces box inventory and stock planning - all that is needed are blank cases to code onto. The C-Series is also exceptionally reliable - using proven technology for minimum downtime and maximum productivity.” In addition, there is total flexibility with the C-Series, which has international language capabilities, a large memory storage for frequent product changes and interfaces for ancillary devices such as product detector, shaft encoders, PC links and other serial communications. Founded in the UK in 1978, Domino sells in 100 countries through a network of 75 distributors. The Cambridge-based global coding company recently took the honours at PPMA, the UK’s leading manufacturing show, winning two top awards for outstanding export achievement and customer service. The £150m turnover company beat off competition from home and overseas to secure The Robert King Medal for pushing exports to more than 88 per cent of all sales and The John Downing Memorial Medal for exceptional customer service. Judges highlighted the special relationship developed by Domino with Nestlé UK during a major new coding project at its York factory. Following the win, Domino’s Marketing Director for Product Information, Lee Metters, said: “We are delighted our achievements in these two key areas have been officially recognised by these Awards. It demonstrates the commitment of our highly professional teams both here and abroad.”
