Domino Announces Exciting New AllianceWith Sator Laser

July 1, 2001

July 2001

Domino is extending its international sales reach further with a major stake in the German company Sator Laser GmbH which has a world reputation for innovative R&D. The new alliance doubles the resources available to Domino in laser technology.

The Cambridge-based leader in innovative solutions for industrial and commercial printing markets, is investing in a 26 per cent share of Sator Laser and a further 25 per cent will be purchased next year. Domino has an option on the remaining 49 per cent.

The deal allows Sator Laser and Domino to begin a joint product development programme that will combine and further strengthen the core laser technologies of the two companies. Under the terms of the agreement, Domino also becomes worldwide distributor of a range of Sator Laserıs products which are used to mark alpha-numeric characters, bar codes and graphics onto a wide range of substrates.

Based in Hamburg, Sator Laser was founded five years ago by Alexander Sator and Nicole Pfingsten. The company has grown to employ 50 people and has rapidly established a reputation as a supplier of high quality, innovative laser marking solutions.

Dominoıs General Manager for Lasers, Simon Bradley, said: ³Sator Laser has an impressive rollcall of customers. The advanced nature of its products, which offer some of the highest marking speeds available, gives Domino selling opportunities in new as well as existing markets. The first new products developed between the two companies are expected to be available in 2002.²

Domino was officially recognised as one of the UKıs best companies when it won The Queenıs Award for International Trade recently.
